Establishing abroad

You have a company and you would like to expand abroad. You can do this by forming a new company or by opening a branch of your existing company in the desired country. There are other requirements when you form a foreign company compared to opening a branch.

If you want to spread the risks, then one option may be to set up a new company. Thus, it makes sense to look at which foreign company you can use for doing business with foreign companies and abroad. In The Netherlands, a lot of business is done through private companies with limited liability (besloten vennootschap met beperkte aansprakelijkheid). Most of our neighbouring countries have their own equivalent of this legal form. However, these are governed by the country's own company law and liability rules. These rules may differ considerably to the rules in The Netherlands.

The option that best suits you depends on the activities that you want to carry out and the liability risks that you are prepared to take. We would be pleased to advise you on this.
